FAQ

-

Does whitening damage my teeth?

In SMITA  we use the safest materials and equipment found on the market that doesn't damage your teeth. Besides when the procedure is performed under the supervision of a dental specialist, a complete protection of your teeth, gums, lips, etc is guaranteed.

Is whitening effective for everyone?

Before the procedure a dental specialist will analyze thoroughly the structure and the color of your teeth and will advise you what's best for you. A clinical whitening is the most effective way to whiten your teeth so far. But still there are cases when it is not that effective, that's why the primary consultation is so important.

Why is clinical whitening better than products I can find online?

Nowadays you can buy everything online - from toothpaste to an island in the ocean. There are so many products online that it is hard to follow and try them all to actually know 1) if they are effective; 2) if they do not damage your teeth; 3) if the results are long-lasting. Remember, that your teeth are a living part of your body with nerves and blood vessels inside, not to mention how important it is to know what exactly you are putting into your mouth?... Whereas clinical whitening is very effective and also safe for your health.

Can I whiten my teeth if I have fillings or crowns?

All the restorations (fillings, crowns and veneers) should be taken into consideration, because composite and porcelain cannot be whitened. So yes, you can get whitening done, but it should be performed by a dental specialist who will analyze your case and offer you the best option to achieve a whiter smile.

How long does it last?

Whitening technologies used nowadays are so effective, that results usually last up to 3-4 years. It is recommended to combine it with a whitening at home to maintain the results even longer and perform some maintenance annually.

Does it hurt?

Clinical whitening normally is not a painful procedure, but it's possible that you will experience some sensitivity during and after the procedure. Normally it goes away within 1 day.

How to maintain the results after whitening?

We always recommend to stay away from foods and beverages that have intensive color for at least 10 days after the procedure and later just try to avoid them for some time. We are talking about coffee, red wine, ketchup, colorful spices, beetroot, etc. Also we recommend doing a home whitening once a year to maintain the color.

WHAT IS A WHITENING AT HOME?

Whitening at home is a complementary procedure to boost or maintain the color achieved during the clinical whitening. Depending on your case you will get instructions on how, when and for how long you should be using it.

FAQ

-

Is clinical whitening not enough?

Many times it could be enough, but usually we recommend whitening at home as a complementary procedure to strengthen achieved results. Besides, once you have custom-made splints, you will be able to perform the whitening procedure at home by yourself once a year to keep the desired color for much longer and you wont need to repeat a clinical whitening soon.

Can I skip it?

If you are satisfied with achieved results, you can skip it. Also if your teeth are very sensitive after the clinical whitening, your dentist might offer you to skip whitening at home to recover faster.

Is it effective?

Yes, it is very effective, once clinical whitening is performed. Do not forget that it is a complementary procedure and applied alone many times does not bring desired results.

Does it hurt?

It is not a painful procedure, but it can cause teeth sensitivity. If you suffer from sensitivity, you can skip it or apply it every other day/night at home controlling levels of sensitivity.
